Join NORC’s Information Technology department to help support the organization’s ongoing business development and expansive growth. Under the direction of the Proposal Manager, the Proposal Analyst will assist in developing new business proposals that incorporate an Information Technology component for prospective government, non-profit, and commercial clients. Use your background and expertise to identify and detail the best technical approaches and solutions to help win the bid. Take the lead on understanding the IT requirements in a proposal to ensure NORC is incorporating appropriate language, developing the budget in line with the proposed solutions, and working with leadership across research and administrative departments to ensure a comprehensive response to the bid. Take on a new opportunity as NORC’s first Proposal Analyst, where you’ll get to learn how NORC’s IT solutions fit into the organization’s strategy to provide trustworthy research for its clients and society overall.

DEPARTMENT:

NORC's Information Technology program provides technology services to our staff and clients. Given the critical role technology plays in our day-to-day lives, we are committed to providing professional, high-quality solutions in order to further our collective goal of advancing social science research.​

Due to COVID-19, this position will initially be remote, but will be expected to be based in our Chicago, IL office when it is safe to resume office work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific tasks include:

  • Write IT security text, such as compliance to federal regulations and technology solutions, to incorporate into new business proposals so NORC can maintain its rigorous approach to compliance, safety, and security  
  • Create budgets and update budget templates in order to support the solutions outlined in the proposal bids
  • Conduct handoff meetings with the IT project management office and research departments, to help kickoff project implementations upon winning the contract
  • Communicate with technical and non-technical staff to translate business needs to technical solutions
  • Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Bachelor degree
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience, with knowledge of Information Technology, including the software implementation process.
  • Proposal experience a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to incorporate both technical and non-technical language based on the audience
  • Knowledge of developing and understanding budgets
  • Good understanding of technology and the software implementation process
  • Organized and self-directed, with the ability to follow through on tasks
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities
